Experience

Our optometrists are highly skilled, bringing extensive expertise to every eye examination.

As independent optical practitioners we take pride in having the practical and technical experience to measure or detect eye problems of all types. Whether it be short-sight (myopia), long-sight, cataracts or macular degeneration we have a combined experience of more than 80 years available to look after your eyes, no matter how challenging they might be.

Our team of experienced professionals comprises three optometrists, two dispensing opticians, and four reception staff, who are passionate about providing exceptional eye care services.

All of our optometrists have been qualified for more than 15 years and have been working with Paul Whiteman Optometrists for more than 10 years.

All of our optometrists are fully qualified and registered with The General Optical Council. We employ long-term practitioners so that we can offer both quality and continuity of eye care.

One of our practitioners holds an Independent Prescribing Speciality allowing prescribing of medications to treat a wide variety of eye conditions from eye infections to glaucoma.

Over the years, technological advancements have resulted in ever more accurate measurements, with improved vision results.

state-of-the art diagnostic equipment means they can measure your eyes in every different way so that you can be prescribed accurately for spectacles or contact lenses, detect eye disease early, monitor eye conditions to check for advancement and when necessary, report and refer patients to the most appropriate eye specialist for their particular eye condition. Whether you wish be treated privately or by the NHS we are able to advise you on the best alternatives for you.

We specialise in detecting and monitoring eye diseases and looking after the health of your eyes. Our practitioners can offer a wide variety of services to patients. These vary from specialist contact lens fitting, myopia control treatment for children and teenagers to a range of Advanced Eye Screening examinations. This means, whether you require us to check for cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease or macular degeneration we can offer quality and continuity of eye care as well as offering a personal and friendly service.

After 40 years of performing eye examinations on behalf of the NHS eye examinations our practice became private in June 2020. This means our patients who wish us to now have to pay for our services we are able to offer a wider, more comprehensive and personal range of services.

Independence allows us to offer an expert referral service for patients with eye complaints via our trusted medical network to both the NHS and private eye specialists with impartiality depending on which provides the most appropriate, fastest and best treatment for the patient.
